MM x Aave // Ronnie’s Film Festival - A MetaMask Card Experience
> The Opportunity //
MetaMask Card is hands-down the easiest way to off-ramp crypto. Connect your wallet, swipe your card, and spend anywhere Mastercard is accepted. But showing is better than telling. So, to generate buzz, amplify real use cases, and rally the ecosystem around the future of crypto payments, we launched MetaMask Card Experiences—a series of unforgettable experiences designed for power users and KOLs, in partnership with the biggest brands and projects in in the ecosystem.Ronnie’s Film Festival was one of those moments.Born in the chaos and charm of Cannes, this cinematic showdown put MetaMask Card and Aave’s iconic ghost, Ronnie,on center stage. What started as a playful challenge to our earliest Card holders quickly turned into the most talked-about experience of the week.
The premise was simple but outrageous:We dropped $100 aUSDC into each guest’s wallet, handed them a sealed postcard with a secret location, and gave them one mission: spend your crypto in the wildest, most unforgettable way possible… and turn it into a short film.
Teams raced through the Riviera in helicopters, speedboats, planes and vintage cars. They tasted wines, pastries, shot scenes, swiped their cards, and brought their crypto dreams to life on film, in real time. Each crew had a filmmaker to capture the chaos, and just a few hours to shoot and edit their masterpiece.
Back at HQ, a chic local restaurant transformed into a pop-up theater. As the sun set, guests sipped cocktails, watched each other’s films over dinner, and a panel of judges crowned the winning team.
But the real headline? We took over Crypto Twitter. Over the course of the day and throughout the week, our KOLs generated 100+ pieces of organic user content, driving conversation, curiosity, and community engagement across the ecosystem.
Ronnie’s Film Festival wasn’t just a creative spectacle. It was a proof of concept. That crypto is ready for prime time. That MetaMask Card works anywhere. And that IRL spend isn’t just possible—it’s cinematic.
This is how movements start.
